WSJ -- Mar 6 -- PlentyofFish announced plans to add a pay option aimed at customers who want to show that they’re serious about meeting someone. In a February report, Sanford Bernstein analyst Jeffrey Lindsay called it “the most successful of a new generation of ‘free’ or advertising-supported dating sites,” and one whose growth could pose a “Craigslist-like disintermediation” threat to established players like Yahoo Personals and IAC’s Match.com. PlentyofFish’s approach to a paid option is different from Match and Yahoo Personals, which charge users when they sign up or attempt to contact someone. “Paid sites monetize on impulse,” Markus Frind wrote on his blog. “PlentyofFish is going to monetize on user intent. I believe we will have far more members that are serious than paid sites.”

There are several possibilities that may have resulted in this decision.

A) A change in the sites revenue. Maybe advertising is starting to decline......

B) A pure desire for additional capital. Knowing the CEO, Mr. Frind is a consistent guy with a desire to be a market dominator, and money being second. This is unlikely.

One can also make the following assumptions:

A) This is simply a test?

B) The beginning of a change in the site. From free to all paid.

C) There will be .... as it says, a combination.

Will be interesting to see over the years ahead.

I think they are just testing the water, the good news is, it is optional and remaining a free member apparantly won't change the way you can use the site, so i think if members want to pay thinking it will result less time wasters then im all for it, especially if it does result in less time wasters, which it probably will

This is what the scammers expect, the check will NY Escort only bounce about 3 weeks to a month later at which point your bank will take back the money leaving you short of the shipping money. The best way of avoiding this fraud is not to sell your vehicle to someone who wants to pay the shipper.I NY Escorts hope all this hasn't scared you away from the Internet, If you are sensible and wary about offers that seem too good to be true then you should be Ok, just NY Asian Escorts apply the same commonsense you use in everyday life, after all if a stranger walked up to you in the street and said "Hi I am from your bank what's NY Asian Escort your credit card number and PIN"

I guess the millions from PPC advertising was not enough for Markus. I guess I can't blame him, as if you can make a ton more money why not?

Funny though, since Plentyoffish became so successful almost entirely because it was 100% free. Oh well, there will always be other great sites that are free to fill in these shoes.

I still think the story of Plentyoffish is one of the internet's best success stories. Most often its big companies with millions of dollars simply making even more money. It's nice to hear a rags to riches story like this one. It gives hope to the rest of us little guys.
